Welcome to Our New Website

by John Lehnhardt

Welcome to the new nationalelephantcenter.org.  We’ve updated the entire site, including the addition of our new blog.  With The National Elephant Center’s opening now just a few short months away, we’ll be sharing the latest news from The Center including new photos, exclusive updates and stories from our work right here.

The Center is now under construction and we expect to welcome our first elephants in early 2013.  A few quick updates:

Construction began in early April with an official groundbreaking ceremony.  Wildlife professionals from accredited zoos across the country joined local community members in Fellsmere and the surrounding area to celebrate the realization of a goal that dates back to 2004. Since then construction crews have made LOTS of progress – we’ll post construction photos here soon.

We’re overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and excitement we have received here in Florida and across the country.  Many of you have asked about opportunities to support the Center, including volunteering or career opportunities.  We’re working on a few different programs and will post them here on the blog.

As you can see, we have lots of exciting news to share in the coming weeks and months.  Make sure to bookmark this page or subscribe on the side-bar.

We’re creating The National Elephant Center because we love elephants, and I know you do too.  Thanks for your support and enthusiasm. And stay tuned!
